The DashBoard fulfills the need for an easy to use display (over 4-1/2 feet wide) of company goals and measures.

This new, retro low tech communication tool revives a classic representation of a vintage car dashboard and gets employees’ attention by communicating in a familiar and interesting fashion. The more everyone in the company understands the objectives and progress and their ability and responsibility to contribute, the more wide spread and deep improvements run.

The dashboard in your car provides all the key measures needed to pilot the vehicle safely and within the law. It does so by being well organized, very visible and constantly updated. Our version of the DashBoard does the same thing by posting key measures for the company’s objectives. The DashBoard directly supports ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and AS9100 requirements. It’s also a great tool for lean, six-sigma and process improvement in general.

The DashBoard can be used at the company level and by department, cell or suppliers.

The DashBoard can be custom configured to track the variables you care about.

  1. The scale for the gauges uses a standard of 25 increments with tick marks spaced evenly; the 1st & 5th are differentiated by longer & heavier marks. This provides many possible options from percentages, fixed counts, dollars and magnitude.
  2. The main faceplate labels (3 large at bottom) can be used for major headings, i.e.; month, quarter, department, year, etc.
  3. The individual dial labels can be used for minor or detailed measures; on-time delivery, lead-time, nonconforming, corrective actions, customer scores etc. It’s possible to use multiple gauges for different intervals, i.e. current month and YTD.
  4. Use the included label kit to add the desired nomenclature to the DashBoard. The Word templates on the CD are already set up for each gauge label size (includes months, quarters, years, common numerals and symbols). Easily change font and size then print on the supplied 8.5 x 11 window decal stock for inkjet printers that is removable and durable. Don’t use white board markers or Sharpies as they are difficult to erase.

Set up – easy as one, two, three

  1. Determine which measures to post on the DashBoard. They may be linked to existing measurement charts in Excel (we can send you a sample).
  2. Use the included label kit to identify individual gauges.
  3. Begin updating the dials at the frequency selected.

Hints

  1. Try using the DashBoard for a minimum of three months to show employees serious intent.
  2. Start with simple measures with readily available data.
  3. Keep the DashBoard up to date, or people will lose interest.
  4. Studies have shown 3 – 5 measures are optimum.
  5. Mount the DashBoard securely; drill appropriate mounting holes.
